Recovery Companions in NYC

Someone to stay while you settle into recovery.

A recovery companion provides company and practical support during an agreed period at home or your hotel. We discuss the everyday arrangements you need help with, the hours you would like covered and who will take over afterward.

Our companions provide non-medical support. Your medical team gives your discharge and recovery instructions. We confirm the practical arrangements, availability and any facility requirements before your booking is finalized.

You may be recovering at home, staying at a hotel after travelling for a procedure, or arranging support for someone you care about. We plan the companion hours around your care team’s instructions and the help already available where you are staying.

The number of hours is not a medical recommendation. Your clinical team determines your instructions; we confirm which practical support we can provide and for what agreed period.

What is included

What your recovery companion can help with

Before your booking is confirmed, we agree the everyday arrangements you would like help with, so the companion’s role is clear to everyone.

Daytime, overnight and longer support can be discussed around your care team’s instructions. A hotel room is a location option, not a separate form of medical care.

Includes, when agreed

  • Getting settled where you are staying
  • Coordinating meals and everyday essentials
  • Companionship during the agreed hours
  • Planned communication with your designated contact

Not part of this companion service

  • Nursing or clinical assessment
  • Medication administration
  • Wound care
  • Medical decisions about your recovery

Hours and costs

Recovery companion hours

The up-to-12-hour option can include discharge if you ask for it: your quote states when the time starts and whether the journey home is part of those hours.

Transport, extra stops, additional hours and accommodation are identified separately in your quote unless expressly included. If a 12-hour block starts at pickup, the journey uses part of those 12 hours. A booked time block does not replace a longer period of support required by your care team.

Overnight and longer support

These blocks start at your home or hotel at the time agreed in your quote. A discharge companion is quoted separately unless your quote includes it.

If discharge and recovery are booked separately, your quote shows both schedules and the combined cost. Overlapping companion time is never charged twice. Transport, hotel and any separately arranged services are identified separately.

Before booking

Arrangements we confirm with you

  • The hours you would like covered

Daytime, overnight or longer, around your care team’s instructions and the help available where you are staying.

  • Where you are staying

Your home or an independently operated hotel, including access, building requirements and a place for the companion to rest on longer bookings.

  • Who takes over afterward

The person who will be with you when the booked period ends, and how they can reach your care team with questions.

How it works

How your recovery companionship is arranged

  1. Step 1: Tell us your plans

Share your start date, where you are staying and the hours you would like covered. It is fine if some details are still being confirmed.

  2. Step 2: Confirm the details

We review availability, timing, the receiving plan and costs with you before anything is booked.

  3. Step 3: Your companion arrives

At the agreed time and place, ready to help you settle in and follow the arrangements you agreed.

  4. Step 4: Hand over as planned

When the booked period ends, the agreed person takes over. Extensions depend on availability and are confirmed with you.

A booked period does not replace any longer period of support your care team requires. Plan who will be with you afterward before the booking is accepted.

Need someone to accompany you home first?

Discharge Companions meet you at the facility-approved pickup point and travel with you to your home or hotel. You can ask about both services in one inquiry.

Questions

Questions people ask before booking

Can I book both services?

Yes, you can ask about both in one inquiry. We will explain whether discharge is included in the same booked period or scheduled separately, and show the total hours and cost before you confirm.

How do I choose the hours?

Start with your care team’s instructions and the help available where you are staying. We can discuss a companion schedule around those arrangements. Choosing a short booking does not change any requirement for someone to remain with you afterward.

Can your companion sign me out?

Where the facility accepts a paid companion, they can complete escort or handoff paperwork appropriate to that role. Your clinical team decides when you are ready to leave. We check the facility’s requirements before confirming the service.

Do I have to stay in one of your suites?

Companionship can be discussed for your home or hotel. If you need help finding accommodation, we coordinate options at independently operated hotels and confirm the property and room details with you.

Is this medical care?

No. This is non-medical companionship. Nursing, medication administration, wound care and clinical assessment are not part of this companion service. Medical questions go to your care team.

How do companions change over on longer bookings?

On multi-shift bookings, the incoming companion is briefed on the agreed arrangements and your preferences before the previous companion leaves, so the handover is planned rather than improvised.

Where does the support take place?

At your home or hotel in the New York City area. Other destinations are reviewed individually before a booking is accepted.
