Frequently Asked

Common Questions

What is a discharge companion?

A discharge companion is a non-medical support professional who meets you at your surgical center, assists you through discharge, coordinates transportation, and helps you settle safely at your recovery location.

Is this medical care?

No. Our services are non-clinical and supportive in nature. We do not administer medications, provide wound care, perform clinical assessments, or replace licensed medical professionals.

How long do I need support?

Most patients benefit from 12 to 48 hours of recovery support depending on their procedure and circumstances. Many start with the discharge companion service and add 12 or 24 hour blocks as needed.

Can I recover alone after outpatient surgery?

Many clinics require patients to have a responsible adult escort upon discharge after anesthesia. Even when not required, the first 24 hours are often more comfortable and safer with a trained companion present.
